GIANT TIGER TO OCCUPY PORTION OF FORMER ZELLERS STORE

Giant Tiger's new location in the Elgin Mall will take up part of the old Zellers store. The new store will be accessible from the outside of the mall but not the inside. The two sides have been in talks since late winter however the deal was just finalized in the last couple of weeks.

MAN CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE BREAK AND ENTERS

Police have nailed down a suspect in a string of break and enters. In the last two months, a bar and grill in the North end of the city has been broken into multiple times. Police concluded the suspect forced open a point of entry and repeatedly stole food and alcohol from inside.

AYLMER SWEET CORNFEST THIS WEEKEND

POLICE STILL ATTEMPTING TO IDENTIFY SUSPECT

St. Thomas Police are still attempting to identify a break and enter suspect. On May 22nd around 3:30am, police responded to a break and enter to a business at the corner of Wellington St. and First Ave. Some money was stolen from the business.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IN EFFECT

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for St. Thomas and Elgin County. The front moving into the area does have the potential to produce strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Flash flooding and water pooling on roads is possible from the rainfall.

CONSTRUCTION ON NEW RECREATION COMPLEX WELL UNDER WAY

It's just over a year before the anticipated completion of the new Recreation complex in the north end of St. Thomas. Construction has been ongoing since early this summer on the site located along Burwell road from Silver Street, north to Dennis Road to the edge of Masco property.

POPULAR TRAIL CLOSED FOR PAVING

The Angus McKenzie trail is closed for the next couple of weeks. The path that leads from Lake Margaret Trail to Sauve Avenue (Doug Tarry Sports Complex) will be closed for the next two weeks for paving.
