BREAKING NEWS: SUTHERLAND LOFTS APPEAL DENIED

The Appeals Court of Ontario has ruled in favour of the City of St. Thomas. Sutherland Lofts Inc. filed another appeal back in early October and was heard this past Monday in Toronto.

RAILWAY MUSEUM HAS AIR CONDITIONING UNIT STOLEN

The Elgin County Railway Museum's air conditioning unit has been stolen. The theft is believed to have happened sometime overnight on Wednesday (October 18) as parts of the unit were found beside the building Thursday morning (October 19) when employees arrived for work.

St. Thomas Police were one of 46 Police services in the Province involved in an investigation that brought 6 people working in the sex trade to safety. Two of those people were under the age of 16.

POLICE CHARGE SUSPECT FOLLOWING GROCERY STORE THEFT

A 24 year old woman is due to appear in court today (October 18) to answer a theft charge. The woman allegedly left a local grocery store with more than $350 worth of merchandise that she did not pay for. St. Thomas Police arrested the woman and charged her with theft under $5,000.

CHAMBER CELEBRATES SMALL BUSINESS WEEK

Over 60 vendors were on display at this year's St. Thomas and District Chamber of Commerce Business and Community Showcase. The event was held at the St. Anne's Centre on Wednesday. Chamber President & CEO Bob Hammersley says that the event showcased more than just businesses from St.

DOWNIE REMEMBERED BY CONCERT PHOTOGRAPHER

Tributes continue to pour in for Gord Downie the lead singer of The Tragically Hip. Downie passed away on Wednesday morning (October 18) after a battle with brain cancer. Concert Photographer David McDonald has been a Hip for 30 years and shot their concerts 6 times.

ST. THOMAS MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO MANSLAUGHTER

A St. Thomas man has pled guilty in a murder case from 2016. 24- year old Corey Jolliffee of St. Thomas has pled guilty on Tuesday (October 17) to manslaughter in the death of William "Billy" Lamers of St. Thomas. Jolliffee was sentenced to 8 years in a federal penitentiary.

MEDICAL SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION OPEN

Applications are now being accepted for the Health Recruitment Partnership Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship per year is awarded to up to 5 people who are enrolled in a Canadian medical school with an emphasis put on those who are looking to pursue a career in family medicine.
