On Saturday, Springfield and Malahide Township celebrated a reunion of friends and neighbours for their 27th Annual Family Fun Day. It was a day of free activities for the entire family, beginning with an Optimist breakfast, games, mini putt golf, inflatable games, O.P.P. demonstrations, a petting zoo, educational displays about Canada's beaver and baseball games on the diamond.
Kelly Pearson, an organizer for Family Fun Day, talks about the value of the community event.

Springfield Public School was also present at the event and with the news of the school closing in June 2020, Pearson says their community is not backing down quietly.

A small maple tree was also planted on Saturday and a plaque will be added to recognize Canada's 150th birthday.
