ST. GEORGE ST CONSTRUCTION GETS THE GREEN LIGHT 3/13/2018 10:08:47 AM
St. George Street in St. Thomas is going to be under construction for the majority of the summer. St. Thomas City Council awarded the tender of the project for $2,767,912.56 to give the project the final approval.
The project will go from Scott Street in the south, down the hill to the bridge at Kettle Creek and a small portion of work in Athletic Park.
Work will be done on the storm and sanitary sewers, the watermain, and sidewalks and pathways will also be added.
City Engineer Justin Lawrence says that they are working to ensure that the activities in Athletic Park will not be impacted.
Lawrence says also included in the project is a multi-use path from Hiawatha Street, down the hill beside the soccer clubhouse, through the park and out to St. George Street.
The project will begin in early April and last until August and St. George Street will be closed during the project.
