Local dignitaries, city staff, contractors, designers and members of the public were on hand Friday morning (July 5) for the ceremonial walkover of the new Dalewood Bridge. The new two lane cable stayed bridge also includes a pedestrian walkway, canoe launch and new fish habitats.
Mayor Joe Preston says that the new bridge becomes a new gateway into the City.
Preston says that as nice as the two lanes of traffic are, having a safe pedestrian walking path is one of the many great features of the bridge.
The opening of the bridge also marks the reopening of the southwest loop of the Dalewood Reservoir Trail.
The trail will be fully open to vehicle traffic by late Friday afternoon.
