For the first time ever the number of homes sold in St. Thomas was down compared to the same time last year. Housing sales were down 24.7% in June, with 73 houses sold. This is the biggest decrease in sales in the London St. Thomas Association of Realtors June report. The average home sold for $354,064 in the Railway City.
LSTAR President Earl Taylor says that while it’s hard to know exactly why sales decreased, it may be because of the time of year.
Taylor says that despite the slight correction last month the market is still robust. Listings were also down 9% in St. Thomas last month.
Overall in the entire LSTAR region sales were down 1.3% from the same time last year with an average sale price of $403,382.
