The St. Thomas Police Service has released their most recent Collisions Statistics for 2019. The statistics compare the collisions from April, May, and June of this year to the same time in 2018.
Based on the data collected, collisions are down overall this year with a total of 93 collisions reported to police this year compared to last year which had 112.
The number of vehicles involved in the reported crashes were down significantly with only 177 vehicles compared to 219 that were involved last year.
The Fairview Ave and Talbot Street intersection continues to be in the top three locations that the accidents occur.
Other significant changes to highlight are that collisions with parked vehicles this year only occurred 9 times compared to last years 35. Impaired by drug collisions stayed the same with only 1 occurring each year, with impaired by alcohol increasing by 1 from 2 to 3 incidents this year.
All months highlighted in the report saw less collisions per month in 2019, compared to 2018.
