A pride flag is now flying high at St. Thomas City Hall. Mayor Joe Preston was joined by Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek and Elgin-Middlesex-London MP Karen Vecchio, along with members of the St. Thomas Police and Fire Departments, members of the St. Thomas Elgin Rainbow Alliance and members of the St. Thomas community to celebrate the raising of the pride flag.
The flag raising marks the beginning of pride week here in St. Thomas which is meant to raise awareness and support for the LGBTQ2S community. This is the 4th year the flag has been flown here in St. Thomas and shows the commitment the city has to supporting all members of our community.
Chair of the St. Thomas Elgin Rainbow Alliance Maggie Scanlon says the support they have received over the past 4 years has been amazing.
Scanlon says they will be holding a family pride wellness night tomorrow (July 23) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Talbot Teen Centre to continue the celebrating.
