Premier Doug Ford has announced a plan for better internet and cell phone service for rural Ontario, which would ensure that no community in the province is left behind.
According to the Premier, 12 percent of Ontario communities or over 200 thousand families don’t have access to fast reliable and affordable internet and cell service.
Premier Ford says the government is investing $315 million dollars to get shoves into the ground to improve broadband and cellular and it’s all part of the new Ontario Broadband and Cellular Action Plan.
Infrastructure Minister Laurie Scott who was in attendance for the announcement says the plan is a first of its kind for the province. She added that the plan will ensure better service to rural and small-town Ontario that don’t have the service or that’s underserved.
The new action plan should have a significant impact on areas of Elgin County that lack access to reliable internet and cell phone services.
