Gorman-Rupp Pumps Canada is the newest company in Elgin County that is being recognized for providing their employees with a living wage. It’s been calculate that in order to earn a living wage in St. Thomas and Elgin County, employees must be making at least $16.57 an hour.
The Living Wage Committee of St. Thomas Elgin celebrates employers who supply their employees with a wage large enough to support not only themselves but their family as well. Living Wage believes that paying employees a living wage creates a critical investment in the long-term prosperity of the economy by fostering a dedicated, skilled, and healthy workforce.
Managing Director of Gorman-Rupp Pumps Canada Robert Furneaux says they are proud that a program like Living Wage exists in St. Thomas and Elgin County.
Furneaux says he hopes that by providing Gorman-Rupp employees with a living wage, other employers throughout Elgin County will following in their footsteps.
Gorman-Rupp joins Steelway Building Systems, H.D. Painting and Forest City Castings as progressive businesses in Elgin County providing a living wage to their employees.
