July was a record setting month for housing sales in the London and St. Thomas area. The London and St. Thomas Association of Realtors July report notes that it was the best July on record for the association since they began tracking sales in 1978. In total 1,043 homes were sold in the region, an increase of 5.4% from July of last year.
73 homes were sold in St. Thomas last month which is in line with the 10 year average for July. Elgin County was also a strong area last month, with the 76 homes sold being its 3rd best ever on record.
St. Thomas was the most affordable place to purchase a house in the LSTAR region last month, with an average sale price of $322,868. The overall sale price in the entire LSTAR region was $404,950.
