The St. Thomas Fire Department is well ahead of where they need to be when it comes to their key performance indicators. For the first time ever the department looked at 4 of their best practice standards that can be used to assess their performance as a department.
The report from January 1st 2019 – June 30th, 2019 looked at call answer time, call processing time, firefigher turn-out time and travel time.
The department came in ahead of all of the North American standards.
Fire Chief Bob Davidson says this shows them they are very committed to keeping the public safe.
Davidson says that going forward they are looking at expanding the indicators into other areas like fire prevention, public education and training.
