Construction on a brand new playground and a newly renovated playground in St. Thomas is complete. The new playground is located in the Centennial Sports Club Complex on Sauve Ave and the renovated playground is in the Doug Tarry Sports Complex on Bill Martyn Parkway.
The Centennial Sports Club complex playground ties into the baseball park theme and renovated playground at Doug Tarry is designed to fit under the current shade structure.
Supervisor of Parks and Forestry Adrienne Jefferson says that the two playgrounds will increase the playability in the area.
Jefferson says that updating the Doug Tarry Complex playground was important as it was first built in 1992 and in need of a renovation. $200,000 in combined funding was approved in the 2019 capital budget.
