The Catfish Creek Conservation Authority has issued a watershed conditions statement as strong winds are expected until Tuesday (August 27). The conservation authority says that southwest winds are expected to increase to south 25 knots by Monday evening and then taper off to southwest 15 knots by Tuesday afternoon.
The conservation authority is encouraging residents to stay away from parts of the Lake Erie Shoreline that are experiencing the strong waves and elevated water levels. Waves of 1m are forecasted to increase to 1.5m by Monday night.
The conservation authority is asking municipal flood coordinators along the shoreline to monitor the road conditions. The statement will remain in effect until Wednesday (August 28) at noon.
