The St. Thomas – Elgin General Hospital has been recognized by Cancer Care Ontario as a breast assessment program. The formal recognition fully accredits the breast assessment program for offering the full services in preventing, detecting and treating breast cancer.
The accreditation can help to assure the patients that they will be receiving the highest quality of care in the hospital.
Manager of Diagnostic Imaging at STEGH Yolanda Mundt says that this recognition has been a long time coming.
Mundt says that another reason this accreditation is possible is because of the new coordinated care approach. STEGH is now one of 70 centres in Ontario to achieve the accreditation.
