The Southwestern Public Health Unit is advising that patrons of a restaurant in Woodstock may have Hepatitis A and not know it. The health unit has put out the advisory after they have confirmed a case of Hepatitis A at the TA Travel Centre’s restaurant located at 535 Mill Street in Woodstock.
They are asking anyone who ate at the restaurant between August 6 – August 22 to contact their dedicated Hepatitis A line to help determine if they are in need of a vaccination.
The case came as a result of a food service worker handling food in the restaurant. The message is specific to anyone that ordered off of the menu in the restaurant or ordered take-out.
Manager of Infectious Diseases Elaine Reddick says that one thing someone who ate at the restaurant in the time frame can do is get vaccinated.
Reddick says that the message does not apply to the prepared foods in the convenience store or those who are off of the buffet.
Immunization clinics specific to the potential hepatitis A exposure will be taking place at the health unit’s 410 Buller Street Woodstock location on :
– Wednesday, August 28 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
– Thursday, August 29 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
– Friday August 30 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
