A 44 year-old man is facing mischief, theft and drug possession charges after the St. Thomas Police say he stole from multiple pay phones in the City. Bell Canada reported damage to 8 of their pay phones in recent weeks to police. The pay phones were reported to have been pried open and had change stolen, leaving them unable to be used.
Officers were able to identify a suspect from a security video. Police then located the suspect on Talbot Street and brought him into custody without incident.
Pry bars, a small amount of hydromorphone pills and a flick knife were seized from the suspect during the arrest. The man is now charged with mischief to property, theft under $5,000, possession of break and enter tools, drug possession, possession of a prohibited weapon and breaching release conditions.
He was held in custody for a court appearance.
