Apple picking season has arrived at Great Lakes Farms in Port Stanley. The farm is entering their second week of apple picking season, with up to 15 different types available. The farm had a later start to the growing season which resulted in no apples being lost to a Spring frost.
This year’s apples are very flavourful and colourful as a result of the recent cool overnight temperatures.
Owner Mary Ann Van De Gevel says that they look forward to seeing the customers during picking season.
Van De Gevel says that this year the total number of apples is down slightly which is common after a very large crop last year. The picking season at Great Lake Farms runs until November 3rd.
