A 68 year old St. Thomas man was arrested Saturday (Sept 28) after he allegedly attacked his common law partner with a hammer. Police were called to the couples residence around 8 a.m. and when they arrived they found the pair outside in the lane way. The man who already had a court imposed weapons prohibition from a previous incident was taken into custody without incident, while the 63 year old woman was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
As a result of the incident the man is being charged with one count Assault with a Weapon, one count Aggravated Assault and one count Breach of Court Order. The 68 year old was held at the police station for court and was remanded into custody. Officers executed a search warrant for the residence and returned later that day to gather evidence.
