With it officially being October, it is time to think about preparing for the October 21st Federal Election. Voters who have registered, should be receiving their personalized voter information card in the mail by October 4th. If you don’t receive your card, it could mean that information such as your address is not up to date or that you are not registered to vote. If you do not receive a voters card or the information on your card is incorrect, you can visit Elections Canada’s website or stop into your local returning office to register or update information.
Other aspects in preparing to cast your vote includes getting to know your local candidates and their platforms. Elgin-Middlesex-London currently has 7 candidates running in the federal election. People who wish to attend will have an opportunity to hear many for them speak and answer questions at the all candidates meeting being hosted by the Aylmer Express on October 2nd at the Memorial Arena beginning at 7 p.m. People who attend the meeting are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation to support the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank.
