A local resident recently took home the prize for biggest pumpkin at the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show. John Butler of St. Thomas took home first prize for the largest pumpkin at the fair for the 3rd consecutive year. This year Butler’s pumpkin weighed in at an amazing 1,483 lbs. Butler took home the James I. Moore Memorial Award along with the $2,000 grand prize for growing the largest pumpkin at this years fair.
Another local man is also being recognized at the fair for growing the largest squash. St. Thomas’ Joel Jarvis took home the first place prize for his gigantic squash weighing in at 1,055 lbs. People who are hoping to get a look at the award winning pumpkin and squash can do so by taking a short trip to the Norfolk County Fair in Simcoe. The fair will be running from October 8th until Monday, October 14th.
