St. Thomas City Council learned more about the plans for the new “Elgin-Aylmer-St. Thomas Community Safety and Well-Being Planning Advisory Committee and Coordinating Committee.” Council was presented with a report detailing the terms of reference for the committee on Monday night.
The committee will identify the risk factors that are facing the vulnerable groups and steps needed to reduce harm and enhance safety and well-being of all residents in St. Thomas, Aylmer and Elgin County and develop a community safety plan.
City Manager Wendell Graves says that this committee will prevent municipalities from overlapping resources.
The committee will be made up of council, staff, law enforcement, educational service, social service and local health integration network members.
The City’s portion of funding for the plan is estimated to be between $15,000 – $20,000 that is anticipated to come from the service delivery and efficiency funding from the Province.
