While many of us spent time with loved ones this Thanksgiving long weekend, over 2 million people across Canada also spent time out at advance polling stations. Elections Canada has said that over the first 2 days of advance polls, over 2 million people came out to vote which is an increase of 25% from the previous Federal Election in 2015. While the official numbers won’t be released until tomorrow, Returning Officers for Elgin-Middlesex-London Carrie Woolley did say that turn out was very good in the riding.
Special voting that can be done in person at any Elections Canada office will come to a close today (Oct 15) at 6 p.m. meaning your next chance to vote is on Election Day on October 21st. Everyone is encouraged to check where their local polling station is located by visiting Elections Canada’s website in order to cast their vote to help shape our riding as well as the Country.
Locally, Pam Armstrong is running for the Liberals, Bob Hargraves for the NDP, Donald Helkaa for the People’s Party of Canada, Ericha Hendel for the Green Party, Peter Redecop for the Christian Heritage Party of Canada, Richard Styve for the Libertarian Party of Canada and incumbent Karen Vecchio for the Conservatives.
