St. Thomas residents will be able to leave leaf and yard waste out for collection beginning next week. The City of St. Thomas has announced that beginning on October 22nd until November 22nd, residents will be able to leave organic material in paper bags or bundles on the curb to be collected on their regular garbage days. These collections are available during both green cart collection weeks as well as recycle weeks. Residents are also able to drop off yard waste at the Community Recycling Centre on South Edgeware Road free of charge during regular operating hours.
Materials that are placed in non-approved bags such as plastic bags will not be picked up and will remain the responsibility of the property owner. Residents are reminded to still utilize their green carts for yard waste in addition to the collection of paper bags or bundles.
Acceptable materials that can be placed in green carts and paper bags include grass, leaves, weeds, plants and brush, with the bag weighing no more than 45 lbs.
