A special weather statement is in effect for St. Thomas and Elgin County as potentially significant rain is expected until Friday morning (November 1). Environment Canada says that the rain is expected to begin on Wednesday morning and continue through to Friday morning. Anywhere from 30 – 50 mm of rain is possible.
Parents and trick or treaters be aware that the heaviest rain is expected to fall on Thursday afternoon (Halloween). Strong northwesterly wind gusts of up to 70 km/hr are also possible Halloween night into Friday morning for Rodney, Shedden and Western Elgin County.
St. Thomas, Aylmer and Eastern Elgin County can expect winds of up to 90 km/hr on Halloween night into Friday morning.
A wind warning may be issued when more details are known.
Halloween night is also forecasted for a 70% chance of rain with a low of plus 2.
Visibility may be reduced on Halloween due to the wind and rain when driving or out trick or treating so take extra caution when you’re out driving or out with your child on Halloween.
The system is expected to improve on Friday morning.
