A new group of local volunteers are supporting the homeless in St. Thomas. The “Railway City Homeless Helping Hands” group is made up of local residents who donate what they can to support Inn Out of The Cold.
The group turns their donations into personal care packages that are then donated to Inn Out of The Cold.
Group Administrator Julie Weinstein says that what’s in the packages varies depending on the donations.
Weinstein says that the group has quickly grown to 101 members in the first week of existence.
Weinstein says that they are not accepting and monetary donations at this time, only items for their care packages. Anyone who wishes to donate to the group can coordinate it through their Facebook group or by contacting Weinstein directly.
