The City will be submitting a funding application to improve the wastewater infrastructure to reduce sewage overflows and basement flooding. St. Thomas City Council approved staff’s report that applies for the Federal and Provincial program through the green stream of the Canada Infrastructure Program.
The submission would include inline wastewater storage structures, assessment of high rate wastewater treatment and plant optimization studies and modifications.
The maximum funding that the City could receive through the program is $3,000,000. The municipal portion of the project would be $800,000 that would be funded through the sewer reserve fund.
