The OPP West Region Headquarters has partnered with the Canadian Mental Health Association Elgin branch to give back this holiday season. Officers at the headquarters will be collecting mittens, gloves, socks and scarves that will then be donated to CMHA Elgin’s clientele at an upcoming luncheon.
Each year the OPP partners with a different organization around the holidays and this year CMHA Elgin is who they are partnering with.
Media Relations Officer Adam Crewdson says that the officers see the need in the community this time of year.
Crewdson says that they are hoping to have 230 sets of items to donate to CMHA Elgin. This is in addition to the Elgin County detachment’s annual support of the Family & Children Services Family Tree Program and donations that they make to seniors in long term care homes.
