The Housekeeping team at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital’s Christmas Care gift card draw raised $4,178. The 20 year initiative sees hospital staff donate gift cards and then tickets are sold to everyone to win the gift cards. This year’s total nearly doubled the amount raised last year. This year’s draw included a total of $800 gift cards awarded to the winner.
Lead Organizer Helaina Bate says that the initiative benefits Christmas Care because she feels that they impact the most people in doing so.
Bate says that the funds will help Christmas Care purchase items that they have not receive enough donations of. This year’s winner was Sarah Pets from Oakville.
