A St. Thomas woman is facing a drug possession charge after attempting to bring illicit drugs into the Elgin County Courthouse. The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon when the woman was going through the routine security search at the entrance of the courthouse.
The Security Officers noticed a syringe in the woman’s purse when going through the x-ray scanner that was suspected to have been filled with Hydromorphone. A physical search ensued which resulted in the drugs and drug paraphernalia being seized.
The 31 year-old woman is charged with one count of drug possession and was released with a future court date.
