The Port Stanley Sailors Jr C Hockey Club’s first annual “Seafood Sailor-Bration” on Saturday night will look to raise funds for three local organizations and support the food bank in the process. The event will take place at the “Puck & Grog” upstairs at the Port Stanley Arena beginning at 4:30 p.m. leading up to the Port Stanley Sailors Jr. C game at 7 p.m.
There will be a seafood dinner with food from Steelhead Food Company as well as local beer from Railway City Brewing Company.
There will be a silent auction with more than $14,000 of sports memorabilia and local donations, a teddy bear toss during the game and a food drive in support of the Port Stanley Food Bank.
Event Organizer Jamie Vickerman says that the day is geared towards the whole community.
Vickerman says that funds raised will be split between the Port Stanley Minor Hockey Association, Port Stanley Figure Skating Club and the Port Stanley Sailors Jr. C team. The teddy bears from will be donated by the players to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
