Éva Circé-Côté French Immersion Public School in Sparta made donations to 2 organizations that help out those in our local community. Students spent the past couple of weeks collecting clothes, toiletries, non-perishable food and other items that they then donated to The Nameless and Violence Against Women Services Elgin County.
The school presented the organizations with their collection following presentations that explained to the student where the donations will be going. The presentations also educated the students on topics that affect their community such as homelessness and violence against women.
Grade 3/4 teacher Michelle Kennedy says even though this was a Christmas time initiative, they want to encourage giving all year long.
Kennedy says that staff are very proud of all the donations that were collected by such a small school.
