On Track St. Thomas is looking back at 2019 as a watershed year for the St. Thomas Elevated Park. 2019 saw the park on the former Michigan Central Railroad Kettle Creek Bridge be fully open from one end to the other, 3 years ahead of schedule.
Fully opening the park included a 200 foot wooden boardwalk, 660 ft sidewalk and completing the safety railings.
President of On Track St. Thomas Serge Lavoie says that one of things they’re proud of is the fact that the park has been built with no government funding.
Lavoie says that in 2020 they will continue to improve the park by installing electricity and lighting, security cameras, children’s musical instruments and improve the 3.5 km of trail to the west of the bridge out to Lyle Road.
