Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek is looking back on what he says was a very busy 2019. This past year saw Yurek switch from the Minister of Transportation to now being the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks which he says brought about some new learning but he now has a handle on the issues and is working on making progress that will benefit both the environment and the local economy.
This year Yurek is proud of expanding and adding concrete barriers to a portion of the 401 in the riding, funding for a mental health worker at the St. Thomas Police Station, over $1 million for St. Thomas transit and announcing that a hospice will be coming to Elgin County.
Yurek says that a challenge is always making sure that St. Thomas and Elgin County’s voice is being heard provincially.
Yurek says that a highlight for him personally this year was being able to attend and present at a UN climate conference in Madrid Spain with a contingent from Canada.
