The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation has made a proposal to delay the strike on January 8th.
The Crown and School Boards’ Associations have agreed to return to the 2018/2019 staffing levels for teachers and education workers for the duration of the next collective agreement.
The federation notes that the ratios between teachers, education workers and students that were in place in 2018 and 2019 would be adjusted according to changes in student enrolment each year.
In exchange, OSSTF/FEESO have agreed to postponing the strike that was scheduled for Wednesday January 8th.
They will also continue to participate in negotiations to resolve “remaining issues between the parties.”
The OSSTF have made the proposal in attempts to bring both parties back to the bargaining table with the hope meaningful negotiations will take place.
