The St. Thomas Police are searching for a male suspect following an armed robbery that took place Sunday morning. Police report that at approximately 10:15 a.m. a male entered a downtown convenience store carrying a weapon. The male then ordered the store clerk to open the cash register and get onto the ground.
After the store clerk complied with the demand, the male suspect ripped a telephone off the wall of the business to prevent 911 from being called. The male then fled to Talbot Street, where he was last seen running north on East Street. Officers brought in the K-9 unit to track the suspect; however, it was unsuccessful. It is reported that the clerk was uninjured as a result of the robbery.
Police describe the suspect as a thin, white male, 25 to 35 years of age, approximately 5 ft 10 in to 6 ft tall, with a reddish blonde goatee.
If anyone has any information in relation to the robbery or can identify the suspect, you are asked to contact the St. Thomas Police or Crime Stoppers.
