The St. Thomas Police are investigating after 2 local animal shelters had their windows smashed on Friday (Jan 3) night. Police received a call around 11:30 p.m. on Friday night from a neighbour in the area of Pets/Friends for Life saying they heard a loud noise come from the building. When police arrived they found that 2 windows on the south side of the building had be smashed.
A similar incident occurred on Friday at Animal Aid in St. Thomas where police say that a volunteer who arrived to open the establishment at around 10 a.m. Saturday morning, discovered broken windows in the rear of the building. Fortunately the windows were double pane and only the exterior window was broken.
It is reported that no animals escaped or were hurt physically by the acts of vandalism.
The St. Thomas Police are currently looking into both incidents and are asking that anyone who may have video surveillance of either area to submit it to them. They also ask that anyone with any information in regards to either incident to call them or Crime Stoppers.
