A St. Thomas woman has been spared from being scammed thanks to a quick thinking clerk at a local pharmacy.
The woman was about to buy $2600 worth of Google Play Cards when the clerk began to question her purchase and advised her she was probably about to be scammed.
The woman told police that she was buying the cards to send to her bank manager as part of an internal bank investigation after her accounts had allegedly been breached. The transaction was stopped just in time.
Police remind the public that at no time will a legitimate financial institution ask for gift cards as a form of currency.
