With edible cannabis slowly making its way to the public, Southwestern Public Health wants to inform the public of some of the risks associated with the new form of cannabis.
Public Health Nurse Courtney Cook explains some of the unique concerns they have with edible cannabis.
Cook offers up some tips for people trying edible cannabis for the first time.
Cook continues, saying that the Health Unit recommends having someone with you if you’re going to try edible cannabis to offer up help if you experience negative effects.

Cook adds that new users should begin with a low dose of THC, no more than 2.5 milligrams, and they should always wait until effects kick in before consuming more
She explains that edible cannabis has some unique risks like overconsumption and the risk of a child, pet, or adult accidentally ingesting it.
