According to a recent report from U-Haul, Canadians who are being priced out of the housing market in big cities such as Toronto are making their way to the Railway City. The popular moving truck rental company has used its own data to create a list of the top cities and towns that Canadians migrate to when they can no longer afford to live in urban areas.
Based on this data, U-Haul released a top 25, with St. Thomas taking the 3rd spot behind North Vancouver, B.C and Trenton, Ontario.
Other cities in the area that cracked the top 25 include Stratford, Chatham, Sarnia, and Strathroy. The data also shows that people seem to flock to Ontario with the province having 19 markets among the top 25.
The report surveyed millions of U-Haul transactions from more than 22,000 U-Haul truck- and trailer-sharing locations across Canada in 2019.
