Toronto Blue Jays Catcher Reese McGuire made his way to the Railway City a day before his scheduled appearance at the St. Thomas Sports Spectacular to help raise additional funds for the Special Olympics. McGuire hosted a hitting clinic at the Power Alley in St. Thomas last night where a select group of lucky kids got to learn from the MLB star. All the money that was raised through registration for the clinic will be going to support Special Olympics Canada in partnership with the St. Thomas Sports Spectacular.
myFM spoke with McGuire who says supporting an organization like Special Olympics is something he’s always wanted to do since getting into professional baseball.
McGuire says that having a little bit of a platform gives him the opportunity to give back whenever he can. With the fundraising event taking place at the Power Alley, we asked McGuire what he thought having a indoor facility can mean to a Minor Baseball Association.
McGuire says that the clinic went great and despite a few shy kids in the group, fun was had by all.
