The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has announced that they will escalate their rotating strikes across the province starting on Monday (Feb 3) if an agreement between the union and the Ontario Government is not reached by the end of January.
The ETFO which represents 83,000 elementary public school teachers, occasional teachers and education professionals across the province will be holding 5, one day strikes next week with 2 of them having an impact on students and parents in Elgin County.
On Tuesday, February 4th teachers and education workers from 9 school boards including the Thames Valley District School Board will be holding one day walk outs. On Thursday (Feb 6) all members of the ETFO will be walking off the job, meaning elementary schools within the TVDSB will once again be affected.
The TVDSB has not yet confirmed what its plans are for dealing with this job action, though schools have been closed for the day during every other strike so far.
