The St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce has announced Paul Jenkins as their new Chief Executive Officer. In a release put out Tuesday (Jan 28) afternoon the Chamber has said that Jenkins will be taking over the new job title effective March 23rd, 2020. The need for a new CEO comes after the retirement of former CEO Bob Hammersley after 33 years of service, in which time the Chamber says they experienced national recognition under the tenured leadership of Hammersley, and is poised for many new chapters of growth and innovation.
This new follows the announcement that Jenkins would be stepping down from his role as Executive Director of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation to pursue new opportunities. The Chamber adds that Jenkins’ remarkable service as Executive Director of the STEGH Foundation, clearly demonstrates the depth and value he brings to the Chamber CEO role in this regard.
In his first official words on behalf of the Chamber, Jenkins says that he is “absolutely thrilled to be offered this privilege to lead the Chamber – one of the region’s most active and engaged business organizations. This Chamber has experienced enormous success over the years. I intend to build upon that, while ensuring our Members have opportunities to prosper, a voice at key levels of government, and various modes to engage with their peers in our outstanding local business community”.
