The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association announced yesterday that they have planned a second one-day, province-wide walkout that will take place next week.
The union, which includes staff from the London District Catholic School Board will walkout on Tuesday, February 4th.
This is in addition to the strikes announced on Monday by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.
OECTA President Liz Stuart says in a release that, “We know Ontarians are growing impatient with these negotiations. Frankly, we share their frustration,”
Stuart continues, explaining that “Strike action is tough for everyone, but it is a sacrifice we need to make to show the
government we will not be deterred in our efforts to protect what we have worked so hard to build.”
Catholic teachers previously engaged in a full withdrawal of services on January 21st.
The LDCSB has said that In-school classes will be cancelled and all LDCSB schools will be closed to all students. This cancellation affects all elementary schools, all secondary schools, alternative education programs and some adult and continuing education programs.
