All public and catholic schools throughout Elgin County will be closed today as teachers and education workers from 3 unions hold one day strikes.
Members from the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation, the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) will all be out at the picket lines today.
This means that all schools within the Thames Valley District School Board and London District Catholic School Board in St. Thomas and Elgin County will be closed. This strike is expected to affect about 100,000 students within the 2 school boards.
The ETFO also have a second strike planned for Thursday (Feb 6).
