A pair of St. Thomas entrepreneurs have landed a highly sought after prize. Andy Fleming and Mason O’Brien of Smooth Clover Limited have been granted only the third cannabis micro-cultivation license in the province.
The process took more than a year to complete and required more than 100 pages of paperwork. Fleming says production will begin this spring in Union on land leased from Debackere Farms.
Fleming says that the pair are hoping to expand from there.
Fleming adds micro-cultivation is not unlike the micro breweries that have sprung up in communities across the province. They will concentrate on quality rather than quantity and sell to a licensed producer, or a large extraction company to get their product out for sale.
