Unless something changes between the Province and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, kids will be missing 2 days of school next week.
The ETFO has said that rotating strike action will continue next week with strikes planned across different school boards beginning on Monday, with all 83,000 union members striking on Tuesday (Feb 11).
Students that attend an elementary school within the Thames Valley District School Board will get a 4 day weekend if no agreement is reached as a strike for members of the board will also be taking place on Monday (Feb 10). These full withdrawal of services are in addition to the strike that will be taking place tomorrow (Feb 6) by ETFO members that work for the TVDSB.
The TVDSB has said that all elementary schools within the board will be closed on Thursday, Monday, and Tuesday as there would not be sufficient supervision to ensure student safety.
The ETFO is currently in negotiations with the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA) to achieve a new collective agreement for elementary teachers.
