A concerned citizen may have prevented a break in after reporting a suspicious vehicle to police. On February 1st around 4 a.m. the Elgin County OPP were called to an area on Longhurst Line where officers located a vehicle in a field.
Police arrested the driver of the vehicle and another individual that was found near the scene trying to avoid police detection by lying down in the field. Officers continued to investigate and located break in tools.
As a result 44 year old Ryan Freeman of London has been charged with Possession of break in instruments and Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited. 44 year old Roy Bourdeau, also from London has been charged with Possession of break in instruments, Failure to comply with release order, and Failure to comply with undertaking.
Both accused were arrested without incident and later released with a court date on March 10, 2020 in St. Thomas. Anyone with further information about the incident is asked to contact the Elgin County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
