It’s one task Heather Jackson never tires of. Last week the Associate Director of Development with the United Way Elgin Middlesex dropped into St. Thomas customs broker Buckland, to collect a cheque for nearly $8,300 to go towards their current fundraising campaign. It is the latest contribution from the long-time supporter of the United Way.
Jackson stressed every dollar raised locally remains in St. Thomas and Elgin County.
Buckland employee Sara McMillan explained the 100 or so employees hold bake sales, barbecues and other events to raise funds, with a corporate match dollar for dollar with all employees who contribute through payroll deductions.
