One person has been arrested while another suspect is still at large following a street racing incident on Centennial Road. Yesterday (Feb 11) around 9 p.m. an Elgin County OPP officer was on Centennial Road south of Elm Street when they observed a white four door vehicle and a blue four door vehicle engaging in what appeared to be street racing on Centennial Road, with speeds in excess of 145 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.
The officer was able to pull over the white four door vehicle, however the other vehicle failed to stop for police and left the scene.
As a result, the OPP have arrested and charged an 18 year old St. Thomas resident with Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed. The suspect was also given a 7 day licence suspension and had their vehicle impounded for seven days.
The investigation is still on going as police look to identify the driver of the blue four door vehicle. Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Elgin County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
