The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) has announced another one day strike that will impact catholic schools within Elgin County next Friday (Feb 28). The union who is set to return to the bargaining table tomorrow (Feb 19) has planned 1 day strikes for every board next week if an agreement is not reached. The London District Catholic School Board will be 1 of 6 boards holding a 1 day full withdrawal of services next Friday.
These strikes will follow this Friday’s province-wide walkout led by the four major education unions and previous full withdrawals of service that took place January 21 and February 4.
OECTA President Liz Stuart said in a statement- “We are ready to get back to the table, but the government needs to recognize that these discussions
must be about protecting our world-renowned publicly funded education system.”
